PM visits Koysha hydropower project

Addis Ababa, September 18, 2020 (FBC) –Prime Minister Dr Abiy Ahmed today visited the Koysha hydropower project.

With 2,160 megawatts generation capacity, the project is being built in Koysha woreda, SNNP regional state.

According to the Ethiopian Electric Power, the project is now more than 36% complete.

The Prime Minister also visited Gibe III hydroelectric power plant, which currently covers up to 60% of the country’s energy supply.

He further visited the natural attractions at Koysha.

Koysha is one of the three projects chosen for development through mobilizing funds under the “Dine for the Nation” program.

The Prime Minister travelled to Jimma town, Oromia regional state this afternoon.

Upon arrival at the Jimma Aba Jifar airport, he was received by Abbaa Gadaas, religious leaders, elders and representative of the community.

The Prime Minister and his delegation also received various gifts from the community, according to Jimma zone communication office.
