Addis Ababa, November 1, 2022 (FBC) – The FDRE Prime Minister, Abiy Ahmed, presented awards to the families of late leaders of 17 African countries who contributed to the establishment of African Union and Pan-Africanism, including Emperor Haile Selassie I.
The final schedule of the African Prospective Youth Conference was held at the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa Conference Center.
Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed, who attended the closing ceremony, presented awards to the families of former leaders of 17 African countries who contributed to African unity and pan-Africanism.
Late leaders of Ethiopia’s Emperor Haile Selassie I, Zambia’s Kenneth Kaunda, Tanzania’s Julius Nyerere, Zimbabwe’s Robert Mugabe, Morocco’s King Hassan II, Guinea’s Ahmed Sekou Toure, Mali’s Madibo Keita, Côte d’Ivoire’s Felix Hoffet Bounai and Senegal’s Leopold Sedar Senghor families are those who received recognition.
It was also stated that families who could not receive the award in person will receive through the African Union.
The African Youth Conference, jointly organized by the FDRE Prime Minister’s Office and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, has been held in Addis Ababa since October 29, 2022.
Prospective youths from 42 African countries and former leaders of African countries participated in this conference.
The conference was organized to raise awareness on the idea and philosophy of Pan-Africanism to the new generation of Africa and strengthen fraternity in the continent.
ENA recalled in the report that the former leaders of Ethiopia shared their experiences at the conference to the African prospects.
