Addis Ababa, November 3, 2021 (FBC) – Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed has paid tribute to fallen heroes over the Memorial Day marked in commemoration of soldiers of the Northern Command of the National Defense Force who were massacred by the TPLF Junta on November 3, 2020.
“Ethiopia is a country heroes and heroines. Ethiopia is a country that has preserved its dignity and sovereignty by sacrifices of its brave and wise sons and daughters. Sacrifice paid by its heroes on November 3, 2020 is the one that cannot be forgotten.”
“We all are indebted to our heroes. Today, we stand on the bones of our heroes who had been sacrificed for our survival. If those Ethiopian heroes had not sacrificed their lives, we would have not been what we are now” he underlined. It was a heinous massacre they faced in return”.
The Northern Command was not organized out of soldiers originated from one region. It is comprised of troops Amhara and Oromia, Sidama and Wolayita, Afar and Gambella, Gurage and Hadiya, among others, to fend off sovereignty of the nation.
For twenty years, the troops of the Northern Command, isolated from their family, home and the village where he grew up, had been protecting and assisting the Tigrayan people with blood and sweat. But it was a betrayal they encountered in return for their kindness and loyal service.
The enemies who came to invade Ethiopia did not start their aggression by attacking heavy artillery and killing senior military officials like what the terrorist TPLF did, and doing to Ethiopia, he said.
“History will judge in the future. The coward will be recorded as a coward, and the brave as a brave and the traitor as a traitor. It is clear that the terrorist group will be remembered for its sacrifices and bravery through generations. On the contrary, the names of the fallen heroes, including the members of the Northern Command, will be inscribed with gold ink and remembered forever,”
Ethiopia marks the horrendous attack committed by the terrorist TPLF Group against soldiers and officers of the Northern Command of the National Army in the presence of senior government officials and top military officers.
