Addis Ababa, October 24, 2022 (FBC) – Ethiopia’s domestic potential means the potential of its people, the natural and historical resources of the country, and the creative skills of the new generation, said FDRE Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed.
Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed stated that even in the face of difficult challenges, Ethiopia has managed to build a resilient economy.
According to the Prime Minister, the main reason for building crisis-resilient economy is that Ethiopia is trying to use its domestic capacities to the fullest extent.
He underlined that the support given from any external side is only an addition to the country’s internal capacity and cannot be the main source of development.
Ethiopia’s journey to prosperity using its domestic potential has always been tested through challenges, the Premier claimed.
Economic exploitation, theft and hiding products have become the country’s main economic challenges, PM Abiy stated.
Hiding the products that should be exported, illegal foreign exchange and land grabbing are the challenges to prosperity that the Ethiopia need to take decisive and swift action against.
To be able to build an economy that will overcome the next challenges, the country needs two-faced efforts; development or otherwise, said PM Abiy.
The Premier underlined that “it requires the collective efforts of all of us to foil economic exploitation, theft and product hiding”.
“On the other hand, Ethiopians are expected to fight for the development of increasing income and reducing expenditure significantly”, he pointed out.
“Both the aforementioned ways of efforts to fight challenges of prosperity allow the nation to develop with its own domestic policies and capacities. The key to our development is in our hands”, Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed added.
