Addis Ababa, March 4, 2022 (FBC) – Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed has expressed condolences at the passing away of the 4th Patriarch of the Ethiopian Orthodox Tewahdo Church, His Holiness Abune Merkorios.
The Prime Minister disclosed that His Holiness the Patriarch plaid the major role for the reunification of the two synods of the Ethiopian Orthodox Tewahdo Church at home and abroad.
Premier further said that the Patriarch was serving the nation with his prayers, adding that “the death of his Holiness at this time is a great loss to the country,”
Prime Minister Abiy visited the Patriarch at a hospital where he was receiving a treatment.
