Addis Ababa, December 7, 2024 (FMC) – Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed today (PhD) visited South Ethiopia and reviewed the progress of cities like Arba Minch.
Access to nutritious food remains one of the key challenges facing both urban and rural communities nationally. In rural areas, we have initiated cluster farming interventions, such as the banana farms we are visiting today, to enhance agricultural productivity.
Additionally, we have launched fruit productivity initiatives, evident in the cultivation of bananas, mangoes, and apples in this region. Complementing these efforts, the “Bounty of the Basket” initiative is fostering poultry production at the household level, alongside fish farming, livestock rearing, and honey production.
Together, these programs aim to ensure the fulfillment of rural and urban households. The cluster farming initiative, in particular, holds great promise for the people of Arba Minch.
