Addis Ababa, April 5, 2024 (FBC) – Jemal Beker Abdula, Ambassador of Ethiopia to Pakistan, on Thursday announced to mobilize another trade delegation of Pakistani businessmen to Ethiopia next month for further strengthening business, trade and commercial connections between the two countries.
Addressing the business community at Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce & Industry (FPCCI), the ambassador recalled the experiences related to the first-ever trade delegation mobilized by the Ethiopian Embassy in Islamabad last year in March.
The first trade delegation to Addis Ababa received an overwhelming response, allowing Pakistani businessmen to explore various opportunities in Ethiopia. Over 75 businessmen participated in the initial delegation, engaging with high-level government officials and key sector representatives.
The Ambassador urged all Pakistani businessmen to join the upcoming delegation and contribute to establishing strong trade relations between Pakistan and Ethiopia. He highlighted Ethiopia’s production of affordable and sustainable energy, which is exported to neighboring countries, as well as the incentives introduced to facilitate foreign direct investment in Ethiopia.
In return, Pakistan offers significant trade and investment opportunities in sectors such as manufacturing, agriculture, pharmaceuticals, textiles, and more.
The FPCCI President, Atif Ikram Sheikh, praised Ethiopia’s socio-economic development under Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed and expressed full support for the Ethiopian Embassy’s efforts in mobilizing the upcoming trade delegation.
Sheikh pledged to be part of the delegation alongside other businessmen to explore and harness opportunities in Ethiopia and Africa, the Ethiopian Embassy in Islamabad confirmed in a press release sent to Fana Broadcasting Corporate.
