Addis Ababa, December 24, 2021 (FBC) – Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed, in a statement, said that the government’s decisions are not guided by emotion, rather they are passed in line with lasting benefit.
“Operation for Unity in Diversity” has enabled the government to drive out the terrorist TPLF forces from Amhara and Afar regions, the Prime Minister underlined.
The government has ordered the army to stay in the areas that have been liberated recently, the Premier said, adding that the government has taken lasting benefit into account in doing so.
“Any approach that doesn’t put lasting benefit into consideration might directly or indirectly add impetus to our enemies. It gives terrorist organizations a pretext to prolong their existence, the Premier noted.
Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed underlined that hasty military decisions might keep Ethiopia under a vicious circle of protracted war. “The campaign declared to weaken Ethiopia is multifaceted”, he added. “The existential threat takes place not only in an overt way, it also has an implicit nature,” the Premier explained.
“The military, diplomatic, economic and information warfares declared against Ethiopia are being carried out in a coordinated and witful manner,” he said.
The terrorist TPLF started the beligerence immediately after the reform started under the cover of Tigray region, he noted.
“The government preferred a peaceful way to address circumstances in order to prevent the nation from humanitarian crises and economic pressures, and to protect peace and security of citizens. But, the terrorist TPLF preffered the descructive way. And, the criminal group committed a brutal attack on the Northern Command of the National Defense Force,” he indicated.
“An attack against the national army is an attack against the sovereignty of the nation,” he underlined. The attack of the terrorist group was aimed to dismantle Ethiopa, the Premier underscored.
In the first offensive carried out by the army, the nation has managed to apprehend some ring leaders of the terrorist group, and taken serious measures against those who opposed to surrender.
In the recent operation, the nation has effectively shattered the aggression carried out by the terrorist group in defiance of the unilateral ceasefire in a more coordinated manner with help of advanced technologies, he said,
The goal of the operation which was intended to clear the terrorist group troops from Afar and Amhara reigion has been successully achieved, the Premier added.
