MOSCOW, August 26 (Sputnik) – A tourist died and another was seriously injured after an ice cave of the Breidamerkurjoekull glacier collapsed in Iceland, the police said on Monday, adding that two people remained missing.

The cave, which measured about 9-16 feet in depth, collapsed on Sunday when a group of 25 foreign tourists visited the glacier, the force said.

The tourists heard a rumble 10 minutes after the group left the cave, the RUV broadcaster reported. They learned about the incident when they arrived at the hotel.

Rescue teams pulled two injured tourists from under the ice. One of them was pronounced dead on the spot, while the other was airlifted to a hospital and is in a stable condition, police said.
