Addis Ababa, February 21, 2020 (FBC) –The number of people in need of humanitarian aid in Ethiopia has declined by more than one million this year.
The number of people needing help due to the impacts of the climate change-induced droughts and conflicts was 8.5 million last Ethiopian fiscal year.
However, it has now reduced to 7.3 million, said Haidas Hussien, Logistics Operation Director at the National Disaster Risk Management Commission (NDRMC) of Ethiopia.
According to him, good harvest season, assistance provided by the people and provision of loan services were the key reasons for the decrease in number of needy people.
He said the government will continue to provide assistance to the remaining 7.3 million people
