MOSCOW, March 22 (Sputnik) – The number of Internet users in China has reached 1.092 billion, a report published on Friday by the Chinese Internet Network Information Center (CNNIC) indicated.
“As of December 2023, the number of Internet users in China reached 1 billion 92 million. Compared with December 2022, the number of new users increased by 24.8 million, with an Internet penetration rate of 77.5 percent,” the report showed.
Such indicators show that China’s economic recovery continues to strengthen, and the Internet plays an important role in accelerating new-type industrialization processes, developing new-quality productivity, and aiding social and economic development, the report showed.
As of December 2023, the number of 5G base stations in the country has reached 3.37 million, the report added.
