Notable achievements registered in socio-economic, political, and diplomatic sectors during ending year: Minister

Addis Ababa, September 9, 2024 (FBC) – Legese Tulu (PhD), Minister of the Government Communication Service (GCS), urged Ethiopians to enhance unity and collaboratively prepare for future endeavors. His remarks came during the national celebration of “Harmony Day,” observed on the 4th of Pagumen, the 13th month of the Ethiopian calendar.

During his address, Legesse highlighted the achievements of the concluding Ethiopian year of 2016, noting significant progress in economic, political, social, and diplomatic arenas. He attributed these successes to the collective efforts of all Ethiopians.

The Minister emphasized that effective media and communication management at the institutional level has ensured citizens receive accurate information. He praised the Government Communication Service for its role in combating disinformation and maintaining a robust communication framework.

Legesse also acknowledged Ethiopia’s recent membership in a new international organization, marking a milestone in the nation’s diplomatic efforts. He noted that the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) has recognized Ethiopia’s industrial advancements, while the UN Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) has acknowledged the country’s strides toward food self-sufficiency.

He pointed out that Ethiopia has produced over 500 million quintals of food and stressed the importance of maintaining momentum in various sectors, including the ‘Bounty of Basket’ initiative, the Green Legacy Initiative, and manufacturing.

“To achieve even greater outcomes next year, we must unite and strengthen our collaboration,” he stated. Dr. Tulu concluded by affirming that “Ethiopia is now more peaceful than ever,” urging collective action to secure further success.
