Addis Ababa, January 29, 2021 (FBC) –The Addis Ababa Police Commission said no one was granted recognition to hold a peacefully rally in Addis Ababa for Jan 31, 2021.
In a statement issued today, the Commission also dismissed as false the information being circulated on social media claiming that the rally had got recognition from police.
In a letter wrote to the Balderas for Genuine Democracy party on Jan. 26, the Addis Ababa city informed the party that the rally didn’t get recognition due to various reasons.
The city administration also submitted a copy of the letter to the Addis Ababa police commission, said the statement.
Accordingly, holding unrecognized rally will result in legal reliability, the commission said. It urged individually who are spreading false information to refrain from their activities.
The Commission further said police will be forced to take legal measures against individuals who will move to hold e a rally in breach of police’s statement.
