Nigeria highlights Ethiopian Airlines as its preferred strategic partner

Addis Ababa, January 3, 2023 (FBC) – In the major achievements scorecard of 2015-2023, President Muhammadu Buhari of Nigeria highlights Ethiopian Airlines, which won through a transparent international bid, to be Nigeria Air’s preferred strategic partner.

According the Nigerian Ministry of Information and Culture, the remark came in the latest edition of President Muhammadu Buhari’s Administration Scorecard Series of 2015-2023, featuring the Minister of Niger Delta Affairs.

Nigeria launched the PMB Administration Scorecard Series in October to showcase and document the numerous achievements of the Buhari Administration and hosted 11 Ministers from since then.

President Buhari Scorecard Series, 2015-2023 featuring Minister of Aviation, Senator Hadi Sirika, highlighted the achievements of the Buhari Administration in aviation sector in the past year which focused in strengthen institutions running civil aviation in Nigeria to run on the standard of ICAO and in line with Global pest practices.

Nigerian Ministry of Aviation Sen. Hadi Sirika disclosed that Ethiopian airlines emerged as the preferred bidder for Nigeria Air because it’s the most qualified in the transparent bidding process adding that partnering with an African airline is in line with African Union’s agenda 2063, especially the Single African Air transport market (SAATM), aimed at creating a single unified air transport market in Africa, liberalizing civil aviation and driving the continent’s economic integration agenda.

In September 2022, Ethiopian Airlines (ET) consortium has been selected as the preferred bidder for Nigeria Air, owning 49 percent of the national carrier,

According to Nigerian Ministry of Aviation, ET scored 89 percent out of 100 in the technical bidding process and 15 out of 20 as regards financial bids.
