New government prioritizes regional social, economic integration

Addis Ababa, October 4, 2021 (FBC) – Addressing the new parliament, President Sahle-Work Zewde underlined that the new government will prioritized social and economic integration with neighbouring countries of the region.

Regional integration will be facilitated in the light of shared prosperity among regional countries, she said.

The diplomatic efforts will continue in a way to defend Ethiopia’s pride, sovereignty and territorial integrity, she underscored.

President Sahle-Work Zewde noted that the construction of the Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam (GERD) will continue without causing any significant harm to downstream countries.

Ethiopia will work to enhance fruitful cooperation among riparian countries to realize fair and reasonable utilization of shared natural resources, according to the President.

Regarding the situation in the northern parts of the country, President Sahle-Work said that the government is working hard to bring sustainable solution to the problem.

Stabilization of the macroeconomy of the country is also the major agenda of the new government, she said adding utilization of nation’s tourism potential and natural resources for the benefit the public at large are given due attention.
