Addis Ababa, September 21, 2022 (FBC) – African journalists who feed wrong and negative reports about the Great Ethiopian Renaissance Dam (GERD) should realize that they have attacked the people of the continent, said Ugandan journalist Kungu Almahdi Adam.
Well known for analyzing affairs related to Ethiopia, Kungu Almahdi Adam is the Managing Editor of one of Uganda’s leading media outlets, ‘News Plus Uganda’.
One of the issues he is writing about is the GERD project, and the journalist recently visited the project for the first time.
He claimed that he was chuffed by the visit, saying the Dam is a project that has given great hope to the whole of Africa beyond Ethiopia.
He stated that having the chance to visit gave him a good opportunity to verify the truths he had written extensively about the Dam.
The journalist said that power generation dams do not block water except to generate energy, therefore, the downstream riparian countries should come to terms with this fact.
Adam confirmed that he will continue to challenge the facts about Ethiopia in the media, recalling his visit to the project will be a useful resource.
He said that the rest of the African journalists should also corroborate the facts about the Dam and expose the false narratives.
The journalist rebuked African journalists who campaign falsely, and reminded them that they are running a campaign of destruction against the African people.
He revealed that the Dam is single-handedly financed by Ethiopians themselves, not a single penny is contributed by foreign support, so this should be a benchmark to the rest of Africa.
