Addis Ababa, January 8, 2020 (FBC) –The National Electoral Board of Ethiopia (NEBE) said it will meet with political parties and stakeholders to discuss on allocation of airtime for electoral campaigning.
Soliana Shimelis, NEBE’s communication advisor, told FBC that the consultation, which will be held in two weeks’ time, is aimed at gathering inputs to enrich the allocation of airtime.
She said the electoral board will announce the airtime allocated for political parties after it is enriched with the inputs gathered from the consultation.
Soliana also rejected reports of various media outlets claiming that they had received information about forthcoming election of Ethiopia.
The Ethiopian Broadcasting Authority (EBA) recently said it was waiting for the formula that the board would present to it after consulting political parties to allocate airtime..
According to authority, the allocation of airtime will be carried out using new technology.
