Addis Ababa, January 1, 2021 (FBC) –The National Election Board of Ethiopia (NEBE) has held consultation with political parties on draft election guidelines.
In her opening remarks, Bertukan Mideksa, Chairperson of NEBE, called upon the political parties to share their constructive comments on the guidelines
During the meeting, Dr Getachew Assefa from the Addis Ababa University (AAU) and other presenters provided detailed explanation on the guidelines issued by the board to the participants.
Last week, the electoral board proposed Ethiopia’s 6th general elections to be conducted on June 5, 2021.
It also announced plans to declare final results of the elections from 6-28 June, 2021.
The tentative date doesn’t include the election in Tigray regional state. The date for election in the region will be announced in the future.
It should be noted that NEBE postponed the elections scheduled for August 2020 due to the coronavirus pandemic.
