Addis Ababa, August 30, 2023 (FBC) – The National Disaster Risk Management Commission (NDRMC) of Ethiopia has announced that humanitarian assistance had been delivered to more than 4.1 million people affected by manmade and natural disasters in various parts of the country this rainy season.
NDRMC Commissioner, Ambassador Shiferaw Teklemariam, stated that humanitarian operations are going on in a more strengthened manner to reach people in need in different areas of Ethiopia.
Over the last month alone, the government has managed to distribute humanitarian assistance to 4.1 million citizens from reserve resources, Ambassador Shiferaw said, adding that the aid delivery reached areas that were previously accessed by USAID and other international agencies.
Preparations are underway to dispatch additional assistance to regional areas in need of humanitarian support in the coming three weeks, the Commissioner added.
