Addis Ababa, November 1, 2023 (FBC) – Ethiopia has officially kicked off the 16 days of activism against gender-based violence in attendance of senior government officials including President Sahle-Work Zewde.
Ethiopia has organized the campaign against gender-based violence for the 18th time under the theme “Whenever, Wherever, In any situation, Don’t be silent on Gender-Based Violence,”
In her remarks at the launch of the campaign, President Sahle-Work called on all stakeholders to denounce gender-based violence, and to contribute their part in strengthening preventive mechanisms.
The campaign aims to raise the public awareness towards strengthening the ongoing prevention efforts to end gender-based violence, harnessing legal mechanisms to tackle the issue, and enhancing rehabilitation services for victims, Ministry of Women and Social Affairs stated so far.
