Addis Ababa, June 10, 2024 (FBC) – Minister of Water and Energy, Habtamu Itefa, held a meeting with the UNICEF representative in Ethiopia, Aboubacar Kampo, and officials from the World Bank in Ethiopia.
The discussion centered on finding additional resources and initiating projects to address the country’s clean drinking water and energy supply issues.
Aside from the existing programs and projects supported by partners, the possibility of raising funds and allocating them to meet the needs of drinking water and sanitation services in various parts of the country was also explored.
Moreover, the Minister and UN officials further discussed ways to enhance ongoing programs and projects, ensuring their effective implementation.
At the conclusion of the meeting, a technical group consisting of representatives from the Ministry of Water and Energy, UNICEF, and the World Bank was established to develop an initial concept and action plan aimed at identifying resources and streamlining ongoing programs and projects.
In a separate development, Minister of Water and Energy Habtamu Itefa met with the Minister of Foreign Trade and Development of Finland, Ville Tavio, to discuss development cooperation between Ethiopia and Finland.
On the occasion, Habtamu expressed gratitude for Finland’s support in providing clean drinking water and meteorological information.
Ville Tavio, in turn, emphasized that Finland is a significant development partner of Ethiopia and expressed a commitment to strengthening their partnership and cooperation in the future.
