Addis Ababa, November 30, 2022 (FBC) – The Ethiopian National Disaster Risk Management Commission (NDMRC) has announced that more than 45,000 metric tonnes of food and non-food humanitarian aid and 839 metric tonnes of medical supplies have been distributed to conflict-affected citizens in the Tigray region.
The Public Relations Director of NDRMC, Debebe Zewde, told Fana Broadcasting Corporate that the provision of unfettered humanitarian supply to citizens affected by the conflict in the region is being accelerated.
According to the PR Director, more than 40,063 metric tonnes of humanitarian food and nutritional food supplies have been distributed in the region within 1,017 vehicles since the peace agreement signed.
He also mentioned that 839.76 metric tonnes of medical supplies were distributed within 25 trucks.
More than 4,254 metric tonnes of non-food items have been distributed within 115 vehicles to the conflict-affected citizens, Debebe added.
The Director also confirmed that convoys loaded with 413,552 liters of fuel have been sent to the region.
From October 30 to November 29, 2022, some 1,169 heavy trucks deployed by partners have accelerated the distribution of humanitarian supply in the area through the three corridors (Afar-Abala, Gondar-Shire and Kombolcha-Kobo-Alamata).
Debebe also indicated that more than 148.7 million Birr in cash has been provided to 16 partners involved in the region for the operation of humanitarian supplies.
