Addis Ababa, November 4, 2022 (FB) – The Embassy of Ethiopia in South Sudan will increase the number of scholarship slots targeting South Sudanese from 100 to 300 students per year.
Since independence, South Sudan has been cooperating with Ethiopia in the field of education, where several students have been sponsored to study various courses in Ethiopian colleges.
Nebil Mahdi Abdullahi, the Ethiopian Ambassador to South Sudan, in his address during the farewell ceremony for more than 10 South Sudanese civil servants who qualified to study at the Ethiopian Civil Service University, said the revision of the slots was to improve South Sudan’s human resource development.
“This proposal got acceptance from our ministry of education, I hope soon our minister of education will come to Juba and the two ministers will sign the agreement,” he said.
Ambassador Nebil revealed that the government of Ethiopia was working to enhance the capacity of the University to improve on quality.
“The Ethiopian Civil Service University is one of the best universities in the country, with senior professors congregating for getting a chance in ivil Service University,” he said.
The Coordinator for the Civil Servant Program from the South Sudanese Ministry of Public Service, Malual Athian, appreciated the Embassy of Ethiopia for the support towards human resource development in the country.
He added that the scholarships always remain successful and meet their intended purpose, reports the City Review.
He called on the beneficiaries to commit themselves and acquire new knowledge that can be applied to build the country.
