Addis Ababa, May 20, 2024 (FBC) – The President of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia, Sahle-Work Zewde, the Prime Minister, Abiy Ahmed, and the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Taye Atskessilassie, expressed their deepest condolences on the death of the President of the Islamic Republic of Iran, President Seyyed Ebrahim Raisi, the Foreign Minister, Hossein Amir-Abdollahian, and other Iranian officials, reads the latest official statement issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ethiopia.
The messages of condolence extended by the Ethiopian officials expressed their deepest sympathies to the families and friends of the deceased, the Ministry noted.
Recall that Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed extended his condolences earlier today to the people and government of Iran on this tragic incident, stating; “On behalf of the People and Government of Ethiopia and myself, I express heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family, people, and government of Iran over the tragic helicopter crash that claimed President Raeisi and Foreign Minister Amir-Abdollahian.”
