Addis Ababa, January 16, 2020 (FBC) –The Ministry of Science and Higher Education (MoSHE) has said it is working to return university students who have left campuses due to security threat.
A committee established to investigation the cause of the problems occurred in 22 universities presented its report today.
The report assessed the political, social and economic situations of students and university community.
According to the report, more than 35,000 students have left campuses due to conflicts that resulted from different push factors.
Prof Hirut Woldemariam, Minister of MoSHE, said 85 of the investigation conducted in the universities were successful in identifying the cause of the conflicts.
The investigation was conducted in universities located in Amhara and Oromia regional states as well as Dire Dawa city administration.
Based on recommendations of the committee, measures had been taken against 640 students, 40 teachers and more than 240 administrative workers, she noted.
