Addis Ababa, November 22, 2020 (FBC) – Ministry of Revenue has announced seizure of contraband worth 52 Million Birr within the past week at points of entries in several locations.
Goods that have been confiscated by custom police include cattle, jewelries, garments, electronic devices and abused substances, the ministry said.
Out of the total confiscated items, goods worth 31 Million Birr were seized en route to the country while the remaining goods amounting 20 Million Birr were captured at exit border areas.
Meanwhile, the Ministry has unveiled seizure of 30 machinegun bullets, 166 Kalashnikov bullets, and 2,771 unregistered US Dollars at Metema entry point.
The Revenu Ministry called up on all Ethiopians to contribute their share in controlling contraband to tackle illicit financial flow and ensure peace and stability in the country.
