Addis Ababa, December 23, 2022 (FBC) – Ministry of Tourism, in collaboration with various stakeholders, has launched an integrated mobile app named ‘Visit Ethiopia’ and travel incentives to modernize the tourism sector.
On the launching ceremony, ministers, members of the Standing Committee on Trade and Tourism of the House of Representatives, heads of the Regional Culture and Tourism Office, presidents of the sector associations and the media were present.
On the occasion, Minister of Tourism, Ambassador Nasise Chali, said that since its inception, the Ministry has been focusing on solving the problem of the use of technology, which has been an obstacle to the development of the sector, and has been making several efforts.
She added that by the efforts of the Ministry and all stakehoders the new platform is realized to build a mobile application that makes the flow of tourist information accessible in a simple and convenient way.
Abe Sano, president of the Commercial Bank of Ethiopia, said on his part that the development of the new travel mobile application will be a good opportunity for the coming Christmas.
Abdisa Yilma, Director General of Space Science and Geo-Spatial Institute, on his part, gave a detailed explanation about the technology and said that Institute will continue to work together with all stakhoders in the future.
Amanuel Agaje, an expert of the Ministry of Tourism, stated that the technology is capable of doing multi-faceted tasks and gave a clear explanation about the tasks it performs.
Ambassador Nasise Chali presented awards to the bodies and professionals who contributed to the development of the technology.
Finally, the Minister of Tourism, Ambassador Nasise Chali announced the launch of the travel application technology together with senior government officials.
