Addis Ababa, November 2, 2023 (FBC) – The Health Minister, Dr. Lia Tadesse announced that activities are underway to achieve Universal Health Coverage in Ethiopia.
The 25th Annual Health Conference is happening in Addis Ababa under the theme “Strong Health Financing for Sustainable Health Development.”
Conflicts, drought and epidemics have challenged the health sector, Dr. Lia said, adding that the country has also been experiencing an increase of malaria cases since the last fiscal year.
She stressed that prior attention will be given to the 3 year strategic plan put in place to contain the surge of malaria and other communicable diseases.
Dr. Lia said that the government attached great importance to the expansion of pharmaceutical industries in order for the nation to address shortage of drug shortages.
Restoration of health facilities damaged due to conflicts in several parts of the country is also among the priority areas in the health sector during the years to come, according to the Minister.
