Ministry obtains over 451 birr revenue in six months

Ethiopia’s Ministry of Revenues (MoR) today confirmed that it has obtained over 451 billion birr in the first half of the 2024/25 fiscal year. This achievement was revealed at a joint performance review meeting of the Ministry and the Ethiopian Customs Commission for the past six months of the current fiscal year.

The event was attended by Minister of Revenues Ms. Aynalem Nigussie, Chief Commissioner of Customs Commission Mr. Debele Kabeta, state ministers, commissioners, and staff members of the two institutions.

In her remarks at the six-month performance review meeting, Ms. Aynalem claimed that her country is on the right track in building reliable and sustainable economic foundation.

Highlighting the main achievements in the first half of the fiscal year, the Minister reported that some 247.7 billion birr was obtained from domestic taxes and 203.8 billion birr from export trade duties and taxes in that period, amassing a total of 451 ETB.

The overall performance was 106.7 billion birr or 110 percent more compared to the same period last year, she added.
