Addis Ababa, September 8, 2020 (FBC) – Ministry of Education is mulling over post COVID 19 circumstances to reopen schools at all levels.
The Ministry stated that it is weighing enabling situations to restart the learning teaching activity in conformity COVID 19 precautions.
The State Minister of the Ministry, Million Matewos said that the pandemic forced more than 26,000 students to stay out of schools 42,000 schools in the country.
He noted that a research committee organized for an academic survey purpose has been undertaking a wide range of assessments crucial to the reopening of the schools.
The research committee is assessing whether schools are able to enroll from 20 to 25 students at a class in 1 student to 1 desk ratio to minimize risks of transmission of the pandemic, the State Minister explained.
According to the State Minister, Some Regional Governments are building additional classes at schools to accommodate the proposed student class ratio.
Hygienic and Sanitation faculties like water and health supplies are being fulfilled at schools as part of preoperational endeavors to address threats related to risk of transmission of the pandemic, the State Minister added.
