Addis Ababa, February 24, 2021 (FBC) – A delegation from Ministry of Mines and Petroleum has paid a visit to Mali intended to benchmark best practices of Sadiola Gold Mine from perspectives of community based engagements.
The delegation led by State Minister of Ministry, Simegn Wubie benchmarked best practices of the Sadiola Gold Mine in terms of industry-community linkage, infrastructural development and environmental protection and other social responsibility related activities.
Members of the delegation visited mining sites, gold processing plant, study and research facility Sadiola Gold Mine Company and the health care institution that the company built for community use.
On the occasion, the state minister told international media about potentials of Ethiopia in the mining sector and areas in which her country will work in collaboration with Sadiola Gold Mine.
It is learned that the delegation of the ministry has obtained significant lessons from Sadiola Gold Mine on how to properly carry out social responsibility activities and undertake effective environmental protection works in line with ensuring benefits of the community in mining areas.
