Addis Ababa, October 1, 2024 (FBC) – The Minister of Agriculture, Girma Amente, held a discussion at his office today with a delegation from the U.S. Embassy in Ethiopia, led by the renowned Ethiopian-American plant breeder and geneticist, Laureate Gabisa Ejeta.
The meeting focused on identifying areas of collaboration between Ethiopia and the U.S. in the agricultural sector, according to the Ministry of Agriculture.
Discussions centered on the application of agricultural technology, the distribution of superior seeds, animal husbandry, and related topics.
Minister Girma Amente emphasized Ethiopia’s commitment to continuing the positive reforms in the agricultural sector through cooperation with the U.S.
On his part, Prof. Gabisa Ejeta highlighted the importance of dedication and effective management in the agriculture sector.
He also confirmed that the American government and aid organizations are committed to working collaboratively with Ethiopia.
Note that Dr. Gebisa is the 2023 U.S. National Medal of Science award winner
Recall that Dr. Gebisa’s research on sorghum has made groundbreaking contributions in agriculture, sustainability, and global food security.
