Addis Ababa, November 24, 2022 (FBC) – The Ethiopian Agriculture Minister, Oumer Hussein, stated that climate change is a matter of survival especially for Africa and that it is crucial to find a solution to the problem.
The Ministry of Agriculture has held a discussion with stakeholders on documents that show the 15-year agricultural insurance experience in Ethiopia and international agricultural insurance experiences.
In his speech at the forum, the Minister said that Africa is changing due to unseasonal rains, floods and droughts.
Realizing that climate change is a matter of survival, especially for Africa, he stressed the need to create ways to manage the problem.
One of the immediate measures for this is agricultural insurance, the Minister suggested.
Mandefro Nigussie, Director General of the Ethiopian Agricultural Transformation Institute, said that the forum focused on the strengths, challenges and future focus areas on the current Ethiopian agricultural insurance, as per the Ministry.
