Addis Ababa, November 16, 2023 (FBC) – Ambassador of Ethiopia to South Africa, Muktar Kedir, discussed with the Mayor of Buffalo City Metropolitan Municipality, Princess Faku on bilateral issues of mutual interest.
During the discussion, the Ambassador said Ethiopia and South Africa have a strong and historical relationship founded on a true spirit of brotherhood.
Ethiopia assisted the anti-colonial struggles by several African countries through direct supports to freedom fighters such as the military training the country provided to Nelson Mandela, according to the Ambassador.
The multifaceted cooperation between Ethiopia and South Africa has now reached a strategic level, he added. For involving members of the Ethiopian community in the Buffalo City in collaborate activities in the Metropolis.
Mayor Princess Faku, for her part, appreciated the willingness shown by the embassy as well as members of the Ethiopian community to work in collaboration with the Buffalo City Metropolitan Municipality, pledging commitment to enhance the cooperation.
Among others, the two sides also explored ways how to well protect businesses of members of the Ethiopian communities from some illegal activities in the metropolis.
Finally, they agreed to forge multifaceted collaboration between the embassy, members of the Ethiopian community and the Buffalo City Metropolitan Municipality thereby cementing the Ethoipia-South Africa bilateral relations.
