Addis Ababa, February 11, 2024 (FBC) – Mayor of Addis Ababa, Adanech Abiebie, has praised the inauguration of the Adwa Victory Memorial as a significant accomplishment realized by the government.
She said that the land that was vacant for several years has turned a monument that would last for centuries, referring to the site the memorial is built at 5 ha of land on the center of Addis Ababa.
Mayor Adanech expressed gratitude to Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed for his initiative and commitment for the successful completion of the project.
“The memorial symbolizes the victory of Adwa that inspired the black race who were fighting for their independence. We are so proud that we took part in making the history that memorized the fighters of the victory, healed the structural structure of our history, and created a monument that amounts to the victory,” the Mayor underscored.
“We are grateful for all who engaged in the construction of the project: contractors, consultants, historians, artists, members of our leadership, and all others,” Adanech added.
