Mayor Adanech emphasizes importance of China visit for Addis Ababa’s corridor dev’t Initiatives

Addis Ababa, January 3, 2025 (FMC) – Mayor Adanech Abiebie of Addis Ababa recently paid a visit to Jiangsu and Nanjing provinces in China, where she engaged in high-level discussions aimed at strengthening cooperation between the cities.

In a social media update, Mayor Adanech highlighted her productive meetings with influential officials including Wang Jinjian, the Secretary of CPC of Yangzhou City, over her two-day stay in Jiangsu. She also met with Song Chibo, Chairperson of International Economic and Technical Cooperation Affairs, to explore future collaboration across various sectors.

The Mayor noted that her trip provided valuable insights and lessons that can be applied to the ongoing corridor development activities in Addis Ababa. During her visit, she observed riverside urban development and reconstruction projects, which she identified as key examples from which to draw best practices for significant housing initiatives in her city, as well as for technology transfer in construction.

Additionally, she reported that both parties agreed to foster experience sharing and technology exchange in construction and related fields. Mayor Adanech also held discussions with Xu Kunlin, Governor of Jiangsu Province, focusing on enhancing bilateral cooperation in investment, trade, tourism, education, and technical and vocational education and training (TVET).
