Addis Ababa Police Commission has been conducting investigations into nine suspect it arrested in connection with other cable thefts committed in various localities.
Police said cables have been so far stolen from intra-city railway track that passes through Abnet, Darmar, Lideta and Tegbared railway stations.
Stolen cables amount to 1.5 Million Birr has been seized and investigations are being carried out based on suspect evidences, police said.
Out of the suspects, four have been held as major criminals while the other two are accused of transporting the stolen cable, three receiving the property and the remaining one of counterfeiting resident ID cards for the thieves.
