Malawi expresses readiness to work closely with Ethiopia

Addis Ababa, February 12, 2021 (FBC) –The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Malawi has expressed its interest to work with the Government of Ethiopia on bilateral issues.

Deputy Mission of Ethiopian Embassy in Kenya, Ambassador Siraj Reshid, held discussion with Malawi’s Foreign Affairs Principal Secretary, Lucky Sikwese

Ambassador Siraj briefed the Principal Secretary on the law enforcement operation held in Tigray regional state and ongoing rehabilitation efforts in the region.

He further said the Government of Ethiopia is also ready to work with the Malawian Government on bilateral issues and sign memorandum of understanding (MoU) to work in the areas of peace, security, and diplomacy.

Malawi’s Foreign Affairs Principal Secretary expressed his happiness for the conclusion of the law enforcement operation in Tigray in a short period of time.

He said the Government of Malawi will work closely with the Government of Ethiopia to further strengthen the historical ties between the two nations.

Sikwese added his country is keen for the conduct of joint commission meeting with the signing of MoU, according to Ethiopian Embassy in Kenya.
