Addis Ababa, May 10, 2023 (FBC) – The “Made In Ethiopia” (Let Ethiopia Produce /Ethiopia Tamrt) national movement has been playing crucial role in the effort to build competitive economy, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, Demeke Mekonnen said.
Demeke made the remark at the closing event of ‘Made In Ethiopia (Ethiopia Tamrt) Expo 2023’ that was open for public for the past five days in Addis Ababa at the Millennium Hall with the view to revitalize the country’s industry sector.
During the closing event, it is stated that the movement, initiated by Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed and being implemented under the leadership of Ministry of Industry for the last one year, has been bearing fruits.
DPM & FM Demeke stated during the occasion that Ethiopia is endowed with the resources and human power vital to produce by its own.
The “Made In Ethiopia” movement is Ethiopia’s developmental torch light crucial to build an independent nation and competitive economy, he said pledging the government’s commitment to provide the necessary support to the acceleration of the industry sector.
He stressed the need to strengthen innovation capabilities and urged all citizens to be proud of domestic products.
Made In Ethiopia national initiative, designed in line with the Home-grown Economy Reform Plan, will further be intensified as it is vital to national development, Demeke added.
For his part, Minister of Industry, Melaku Alebel, said the movement has been able to create awareness about the sector and attract new investments.
More than 40,000 people have visited the ‘Let Ethiopia Produce International Expo 2023’ over the past five days. Some 70 large and 54 medium industries have displayed their products and services at the expo.
