Lowland areas livelihood improvement project benefits 965,368 citizens – MoIL

Addis Ababa, September 21, 2022 (FBC) – Lowland Livelihood Improvement Project has benefited 965,368 citizens, 1.5 million animals, and 136,804 students, declared the Ministry of Irrigation and Lowland Areas – Ethiopia (MoIL).

This project has been implemented in 7 regions (within 100 districts and 1731 kebeles) by MoIL in the 2019/20 fiscal year.

547 projects have been accomplished so far in basic service improvement and capacity building component: such as water supply, schools, human health centers, animal health centers, animal market, road construction, minor irrigation, and flood prevention gabion projects.

A total budget of $451 million has been allocated to the project, which lasts on October 2025. Of this amount, the budget spent on all four components in the past three years amounted $121,576,244.12 million.
