Launch of PKI unlocks Ethiopia’s digital ecosystem – Deputy PM

Addis Ababa, August 31, 2024 (FBC) – The launch of the Public Key Infrastructure (PKI) by Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed is a crucial step in developing Ethiopia’s digital ecosystem, according to Deputy Prime Minister Temesgen Truneh.

The Deputy PM also believes that PKI plays an integral role in enhancing network security and enabling secure digital transactions.

In his message regarding the launch of PKI, Deputy PM Temesgen congratulated everyone involved in this significant achievement.

Recall that Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed has launched the Public Key Infrastructure (PKI) at the Information Network Security Administration (INSA) headquarters in Addis Ababa this morning.

The launch ceremony was attended by Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed, Deputy Prime Minister Temesgen Truneh, Innovation & Technology Minister Belete Molla, Trade & Regional Integration Minister Kassahun Gofe, Finance Minister Ahmed Shide, Director General of INSA Ms.Tigst Hamid, and other senior officials.

In his remarks, Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed stated that securing virtual data complements the task of protecting national sovereignty. He added that Public Key Infrastructure (PKI) will facilitate reliable and secure digital data exchange in the country.
