Addis Ababa, October 6, 2020 (FBC) – The late politician, academic and human rights activist, Professor Mesfin Woldemariam has laid to rest in Holy Trinity Church with a big funeral service attended by high government officials, religious leaders, family members, artists, public figures and Addis Ababa University Staff members.
Spokesperson of the House of Federation, Tagesse Chaffo, Deputy Mayor of Addis Ababa, Adanech Abiebie, President of Oromia Regional State, Shimelis Abdissa and other high ranking government officials have attended the funeral ceremony at the Holy Cathedral Church.
It is stated on the funeral ceremony that the late Professor Mesfin Woldemariam was advocating Ethiopian nationalism, and left his legacy in democratic system building and human rights spheres.
The founder of the Ethiopian Human Rights Council, late Mesfin Woldemariam conducted various researches on famine and drought related topics various socio economic thematic areas, it was said on the funeral.
Professor Mesfin was sharing his enormous experiences to the generation on areas of political, economic and prospects of Ethiopia through various aspects.
The veteran politician, Academic, Author, Human Rights Activist, Professor Mesfin Woldemariam died at the age of 90 late Tuesday September 30, 2020 of health complications while receiving medical treatment.
