Addis Ababa, April 27, 2023 (FBC) – The Ministry of Transport and Logistics of Ethiopia has announced today that land transportation from Tigray region to Addis Ababa and vice versa has officially resumed.
In a joint press briefing with Transport Bureaus of the Amhara, Afar, and Tigray regions, the Ministry revealed that land transport to the Tigray Region has officially resumed in light of the encouraging implementation of the Pretoria Peace Agreement.
The Ministry of Transport disclosed that 19 buses have been deployed in different directions from Addis Ababa Tigray region and vice versa since April 22, 2023.
It is stated that the introduction of land transport has created a lot of happiness among the community and has contributed positively to expedite the transportation to the region.
The local authorities and leaders have been asked to fulfill their responsibilities especially in removing the illegal checkpoints in some areas and tightening the control.
It is said that the federal police will control the entire transport line by doing security control.
