Addis Ababa March 22, 2023 (FBC) – Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) is implementing the Ethiopian Electronic Single Window System Development Project (EESWSDP) since 2019.
The project is being implemented with a budget of 7.49 million USD secured from KOICA as Ethiopian Customs Commission (ECC) and Ministry of Revenue (MoR) are the implementer Institutions.
The project aims to reduce inefficient import and export process with respect to time, create cost effective international trade process, manage the services that are prone to corruption and administer complex and unpredictable services.
The project is said to have a paramount significance in enhancing national revenue, promoting ease of doing business (system development), providing ease and predictable trend, expanding good governance, reducing time and cost of doing business including administrative costs.
EESWSDP also indicated that the project is vital to reduce the redundancy of document submitted, ensure low compliance, encourage trade internationally, increase transparency and attract high investment, and remarkable achivements have being gained in doing so.
Around 40 higher government organizations and respective regional offices, financial and insurance companies, private sectors especially import and export business and logistics companies are the beneficiaries of the project.
In addition, the project has been awarded by World Customs Organization a certificate of Merit on the occasion of International Customs Day. The Project will be closed in April 2023, KOICA said.
