Joint project launched to assist women, youth returnees

Addis Ababa, April 18, 2021 (FBC) – Jobs Creation Commission and East Africa Bottling Share Company launched a project to support Women and Youth returnees, said Nigussu Tilahun.

Federal Jobs Creation Commissioner Nigussu Tilahun said that the project launched in cooperation with East African Bottling Share Company aimed at solving social problems of jobless women and the youth through creating about 600 jobs.

The project is meant to rehabilitate women and youth who returned home from abroad after losing their jobs due to COVID-19, he elaborated.

According to EPA, the project will run with an outlay of 20 million Birr with a view to running activities that include women, people with disabilities, homeless, internally displaced citizens, he added.

“The returnees, who had been contributing to the economy of the country by sending remittance, have acquired skills in their stay in different countries. Hence, with minimal support they are able to create jobs and can employ others as well.” he said.
