Addis Ababa, May 30, 2024 (FBC) – Regional Director of the International Women’s Peace Group (IWPG) Global Region 2, Seoyeon Lee, announced that ‘the 6th International Loving Peace Art Competition’ has been organized at Sunnyside secondary school in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.
The International Loving Peace Art Competition provides children and youth with the opportunity to imagine and draw a world of peace every year as part of spreading the culture of peace, the Director said.
The drawing contest is held every year in major cities around the world to spread the need for an end to global war, the value of a culture of peace, and to deliver a message of peace.
“Sunnyside secondary school, which has 368 students, selected about 40 middle and high school students to participate in this International Loving Peace Art Competition. Participants drew pictures with the theme ‘Sending a heart of peace to friends suffering from war.’ In addition, an exhibition of the finalists of the 5th International Loving Peace Art Competition was held,” the Director explained.
The principal of Sunnyside secondary school said, “It is truly an honor for our youth to have the opportunity to participate in an international competition with the theme of peace,” and added, “We will hold this drawing competition together with IWPG every year.”
“Preliminary works go through strict screening to advance to the finals. The final awards ceremony is scheduled to be held in November,” IWPG Global Region 2 announced.
IWPG is a special consultative status NGO of the United Nations Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) and a women’s peace organization registered with the Department of Global Communications (DGC).
Headquartered in Seoul, Korea IWPG actively works in solidarity with about 110 branches and 660 partner organizations around the world.
