Addis Ababa, September 3, 2024 (FBC) – Alessandro de Pedys, the Director General for Public and Cultural Diplomacy at Italy’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, visited the Italian Cultural Institute in Addis Ababa today, accompanied by Ambassador Palese.
During his visit, De Pedys explored various initiatives at the institute designed to promote Italian language and culture in Ethiopia. He engaged with directors, faculty, and students, including members of the newly established “Informatics and Telecommunications” center, which was initiated following Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni’s visit to Ethiopia last year.
Additionally, De Pedys met with Samuel Kifle, President of Addis Ababa University, to discuss opportunities for enhancing cooperation between the two nations in the education sector.
He emphasized that the center is playing a significant role in strengthening the bilateral relationship between Ethiopia and Italy, particularly in cultural exchange and capacity building as outlined in Prime Minister Meloni’s ‘Mettei Plan for Africa’.
