Addis Ababa, August 24, 2020 (FBC) – Minister of Ministry of Foreign Affairs Gedu Andargachew reaffirmed that it is imperative to resort to the correct narrative and discourse over the Abay River.
People should understand that utilizing the Abay River is a matter of sustaining life and asserting existence for Ethiopians, the minister said.
Addressing a webinar on Sunday under the theme: “Abay River: a source of life and pride to Ethiopia”, Gedu explained the term Abay River as major, vital, considerable and paramount.
The River Abay goes hand in hand with its waters’ huge imprint on the economic, cultural, historical and geopolitical relations of people in Ethiopia and across the region.
On the occasion, five experts tabled researches on various fields of studies focused on discussing the Abay River from different perspectives.
