Addis Ababa, November 10, 2020 (FBC) – A special Israeli locust fighters taskforce has arrived in Addis Ababa today to help Ethiopia address impact of desert locust.
The members of the taskforce will join forces with their Ethiopian counterparts in fighting the spread of desert locust swarms in the country.
During their two-week stay here, they will provide training to more than 200 Ethiopian experts.
In an exclusive interview with FBC, Israeli Deputy Public Security Minister, Gadi Yevarkan, underscored the need for lasting solution to avoid the devastating effects of locust on crops.
He said the Israeli experts will provide assistance and training on how to prevent desert locust swarms before they cause damages to crops.
He further said Israel will continue providing support to Ethiopia’s irrigation development activities.
