Irreecha Celebrated Colorfully, Peacefully in Addis Ababa

Addis Ababa, October 3, 2020 (FBC) – The Thanksgiving Festival of the Oromo People, Irreecha has been celebrated in Addis Ababa colorfully and peacefully in various rituals and festive events.

The festival has been held in attendance of of Aba Gadas, Hada Sinqes, guests, senior government officials, religious leaders and hundreds of people drawn from various parts of the country.

According to the Office, the festival has been celebrated with limited number of people in accordance with a decision made by Aba Gadas in cognizant of the pandemic.

The festivity which is taken as a symbol of a transition from darkness to a light has been marked by hundreds dressed in colorful traditional costumes in a way that represented cultural values of the Oromo people.

It is to be recalled that panel discussions and symposiums focused on the celebration of the Irreecha festival held in Addis Ababa yesterday involving participation of researchers, officials and invited guests.
